Vaping Laws for Minors

vaping laws for minors

Vaping is the new fad that appeals to a large number of teenagers today. The issue becomes more serious when a recent study stated that even teenagers who are 13 to 15 years are into this activity. They all have different reasons; some do it because they think it makes them look ‘cool,’ others use it to escape their problems at home or in school, and there are some who are pressured by their peers. Whatever their reason is, federal law clearly states that just like smoking, the use and sale of e-cigs and other ENDS are prohibited to minors.

How Old Do You Have to be to Use Vaporizers?

The answer is simple – you have to be 18 and above to legally use or buy any product related to vaping. In fact, different states have varying laws about vaping. So if you don’t want to get into serious trouble, take the time to check the rules in your area first.

Why Do I Have to Wait Until I’m 18?

Although there are no specific rules laid down for the use of vaporizers, e-cigs, vape pens and other ENDS, these products contain nicotine that can harm your lungs. That’s just one of its features that make it similar to traditional cigarettes. In fact, the FDA implemented a rule last year to strictly regulate the use and sale of vape products. They have been ‘deemed’ as tobacco products, and we all know that this ingredient is hazardous to our health. If you want to keep your well-being at its optimum, stay away from e-cigarettes or any product that contains nicotine and tobacco. But if you want to join the bandwagon, wait until you’re 18.

Should You Worry If You Have a Teenager that Vapes?

More and more young people are trying out e-cigarettes. In fact, it has been predicted in this study, that vaping will out rule traditional smoking by 2023. As a parent who has a teenager that vapes, here are some things that you should know.

Although the FDA considers vape products to be tobacco products, many vaping manufacturers protest this claim. They say that e-liquids are nicotine solutions that are heated to make a vapor. Most vaping devices are also powered by batteries. Hence, they are not burned tobacco products.

Manufacturers also say that not all e-cigs contain nicotine. Some products contain little or no nicotine at all. It depends on the brand you choose; make sure to clearly state your preference before buying anything.

E-cigarettes are dramatically less dangerous than traditional cigarettes. But vapers who are fond of using high-voltage devices should be warned that they produce high levels of carcinogen formaldehyde – a chemical that can cause cancer. High-voltage devices and long puffs are also the main reasons why many vapers experience the ‘burnt taste.’ If you want to enjoy your vaping, you would want to avoid having this taste at all times.

If you’re not a smoker and you haven’t tried vaping, it’s best to just keep away from these activities. Nicotine and tobacco will never be good for you. Try indulging in sports or other recreational activities instead.
