Thoughts on an Article About Smoking and Teens

Headline: State Study Show Youth Cigarette Smoking is Down, But e-Cig Use is Up

In a recent article about how youth smoking rates are declining the author mentions that “But the report found a troubling trend, too: The number of high schoolers using e-cigarettes has nearly tripled in the last two years, with 15.8 percent of students reporting having used an electronic smoking device in 2015.”

We, the TVECA ( successfully fought in 2009 for electronic cigarettes to be regulated as a tobacco product and not a drug device combination as the FDA first thought. The primary reason was two-fold: 1) To keep this fabulous new technology available to smokers as their first viable option to the smoking of tobacco products and 2) Keep them out of the hands of teens and America’s youth.

Let us be very clear, NICMAXX and the TVECA do not condone or in any sense wish any person under the legal smoking age get a hold of these adult products. It is our collective hope that journalists will do more through investigations into how our products are being used by adults. I have done this since 2007 and see the media and journalists simply cut and paste their way through investigating the totality of e-Vapor products.

I present to the reader a scientific study titled ” Comparison of select analytes in aerosol from e-cigarettes with smoke from conventional cigarettes and with ambient air”

We sincerely ask journalists to use full diligence in reporting on our products. Contact us and we will provide you lists of clients and their doctors so you can actually discover what we have claimed for years-that e-Vapor products are the first viable options that smokers are now using to transition away from tobacco products.
